Yoake and Hishiro's Year and a Half ( () (あけ) () (しろ) (いち) (ねん) (はん) , Yoake To Hishiro No Ichi Nen Han) is the one hundred and twelfth chapter of ReLIFE.

Synopsis

Flashbacks plays in rewinding order, from the night of the fireworks festival to the first meeting between Chizuru and Ryō.

Characters[]

Plot[]

Chizuru is a subject in the ReLIFE experiment, with Ryō acting as her support. When she asked Ryō to accompany her home after the fireworks festival it was due to her being mindful of Ryō's task to observe her. During the events leading to the volleyball tournament Ryō believed Arata Kaizaki would notice something was wrong between Rena Kariu and Honoka Tamarai, but was having his doubts about how Chizuru would act in the situation. However, when Ryō refused over the phone to meddle in his subject's affairs before Chizuru came over to Arata's house to have a talk about Rena and Honoka, it was Chizuru calling him as she had started to get worried about her friends. Since Ryō could not get involved too much, she asked if it was all right for her to discuss the situation with Arata.

The beginning of Chizuru's ReLIFE experiment had some similarities to Arata's. Like him, she was very uncomfortable about Ryō being in the same class without telling her about it in advance. Also, while she has been calling Ryō by his first name since he asked her to early in her experiment, he was not expecting her to do so easily.

Chizuru is the very first subject of the Kanto branch of ReLIFE Laboratory, having become a NEET because of her poor social skills. Despite performing perfectly in several jobs, she always actively isolated herself from others in the workplace, which led to the end of her employment in every company she worked for.

Trivia[]

  • The events in this chapter consist entirely of flashbacks from earlier in the comic series and the time before Arata became a subject in the ReLIFE experiment. In order of appearance in the comic, the events are referring to Report 104, Report 102, Report 79, Report 70, and Report 69.
  • This is the first chapter where Arata Kaizaki doesn't even appear in flashbacks, though he is still mentioned in dialogue.
  • The end panel of this chapter repeats the end panel motif of Report 52 - adult sticking out their tongue with the pill on it.
