Plot[]
As Arata and Ryō are about to leave Michiru's grave, a man and woman they do not know arrive. They apologize for their intrusion, but Arata and Ryō tell them it is all right as they were leaving anyway. However, before they can get more than a few paces away the man recognizes Arata and tells him they are fresh employees in his old company, that he saw his face in a photo album and that Arata's name comes up often in discussions with the president or their senior employees.
Arata is depressed to hear he is still being talked about in the company, and the woman tells him that even now the president is telling people about how he quit after only three months' employment and how exemplary Michiru Saiki was in her devotion to the company. They also got the feeling there is something wrong with the company, but it being their first employer, thought maybe it was not that bad. However, they soon found the problems had started affecting their willpower and they also started to think about quitting.
Reminded of how he himself was one year ago, Arata thinks about how the same things seem to keep happening over and over again and people keep struggling against the way things are. To Arata's surprise the man tells him he is considered a hero by the company's new employees and that they are inspired by his story. Though they do not have the courage to stand up for themselves like Arata did, hearing about his rebellion gave them relief as it meant they weren't alone in thinking the company was bad. As the man and woman say they respect him and Michiru, Arata is relieved to hear that their resistance managed to reach someone.
The man then asks Arata what happened to him after he left the company, to inform them about what might happen if they decide to quit too. With Ryō paying close attention as he uncomfortably reaches toward his neck, Arata recalls a previous visit to Michiru's grave when he was losing hope of ever getting employed again and unable to find a clear answer if things would have been better if he had acted differently.
